SoCal Doggie Street Festival Promotes Pet-Adoption Awareness

About 3 month(s) ago by Ayres Hotels

Each year, the Doggie Street Festival continues their fight to increase dog and cat adoption through its annual festival. The Southern California festival will be in both San Diego and Los Angeles and is the largest pet adoption-focused event in the SoCal area. The 8th annual San Diego Doggie Street Festival will be on Saturday, August 27th at NTC Park Liberty Station and the 5th annual Los Angeles sister event will be on Saturday, September 16th at Westwood Rec. Center.

The Doggie Street Festival will have delicious eats, live music, veterinarians offering tips, pet products and services, a children’s art area, special guests, and more. Bring your canine friend and join in the celebratory event and spread awareness on behalf of their four-legged population.

A few key special guests include:

· Ann Pullock, founder/President of Chihuahua Rescue of San Diego

· Chopper the Biker Dog, a seven year old Boston Terrier, therapy dog

· Lori Goff, Registered Veterinary Technician at VCA Animal Specialty Group in San Diego

· Mick Myers, VCA Emergency Animal Hospital and Referral Center

After the festival founder – Jude Artenstein – climbed back up after being dramatically affected by the 2009 recession, she felt inspired by the deep companionship he found in his four-legged friend, Scout, through it all. She decided to create Doggie Street Festival, an adoption event bringing together the rescue community with adoptable dogs and cats, a platform to increase adoption and educate on spay/neuter options, alongside veterinarians, pet professionals, trainers, health and nutrition experts to provide information and improved care –in one large, festive public celebration dedicated to the worthy animal friends. The Doggie Street Festival strives to give voice to the dog and cat population that desperately needs a home and cannot speak for itself.
