Space, Stars, and Symphony

Travel through the majesty of our solar system to the legendary sounds of space-themed classics is available to the public? On Saturday, March 12th, the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall will be playing real footage from NASA, as the renowned Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra – Orange County’s premier training orchestra – performs Gustav Holst’s “The Planets” and selected scores from Star Wars. Symphony Through Space is an interactive music carnival that will allow children to test a musical instrument, meet the performers, and enjoy musical activities related to the event’s NASA theme. There’s no better way to journey through the awe of our solar system.

The symphony’s program will include:

  • Main Title and “Imperial March” from Star Wars by Williams
  • “Pictures at an Exhibition” by Mussorgsky
  • “Somewhere” from West Side Story by Bernstein
  • “Bacchanale” from Samson et Dalilá by Saint-Saëns
  • “Finlandia” by Sibelius
  • “The Planets” by Holst
