With the California drought heading into its' fourth unwelcomed year, our Southern California Ski Resorts are closing early yet again due to lack of snow and cold weather. It has been another dry year and it shows on the slopes. There is still some snow to ski or snowboard on, however limited. Just because the ski slopes will be closed, doesn't mean we can't enjoy the cooler weather atop some beautiful scenic views! With Ayres Hotels just along the foothills in the Inland Empire, staycations will be the way to go this season!
Both Snow Summit and Bear Mountain are still open for skiing and snowboarding this weekend. Sunday will be, however, the final day to enjoy the slopes while they still have snow on them. So, while we hit a new heat record in Southern California for the 5th day in March at 90 degrees or more, the Big Bear Mountains will be at a cool 65 degrees. We are all for Summer-like weather, but being in a brisk 65 degrees sure does sound great right about now! So grab the whole family and make the short drive up the mountain to enjoy the cool weather and many activities Big Bear has to offer!
