In 1923 the Long Beach City Council designated 150 acres for Daugherty Field. The first Long Beach Airport operator's lease was issued in 1925. During the late 1920s to mid-1930s two runways were constructed. The Long Beach Airport expanded to 500 acres by 1941. Today, visitors can be a part of aviation history by coming up close to the Art Deco-style terminal buildings and mosaic art works.
