Our History

On behalf of our Ayres family, it is a pleasure to welcome you to our collection of European-inspired boutique hotels. Our passion for hospitality runs deep in our heritage. In 1905, our great-grandfather Frank took a $2 train ride from Ohio to California with his wife and our grandfather, Donald Sr., to explore land development opportunities. We guess you can say, from there, it's history!

Hotel development began in the early '80s, and today, we have a collection of 24 handcrafted hotels across all of Southern California, all thoughtfully designed to be different than the next. We want to be your home away from home, and do that through creating an authentic atmosphere that provides you with a little something beyond the ordinary hotel experience - a little more attentiveness, a little more space, and a little more comfort.
