About 3 year(s) ago by Hotel What time is it? It’s Thai time! This week in our “Taste of SoCal” series we are shining a light on a foreign, yet scrumptious flavor brought to the sunny shores of O.C and of course, with a little humor mixed in. Here are a few Thai restaurants you must try next time you stay at one of our properties. THAI THISWhere is it: 24501 Del Prado #B, (at Amber Lantern) Dana Point, CA 92629 With a menu of traditional Thai and modern cuisine, owner and chef Jib Roungchun uses creative names and pun humor to describe his devilishly delicious dishes. This quaint little restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and has gluten-free options. You can also choose from over 100 bottles of wine which has garnered this place Wine Spectator awards. Before your main course, Thai This offers “Appethaizers” such as The Ballad of Jeff and Madonna (Kun Chieng Tod) which is described in the menu as “sweet savory pork sausage with spicy lime sauce, MA-MA-MIA!” And yes, that last part is actually part of the menu description. THAI JUAN ONWhere is it: 31878 Del Obispo Street 109 San Juan Capistrano CA USA In addition to “Thai This”, Chef Jib adds to his hilarious brand of scrumptious food by adding his own brand of Mexican and Thai fusion cuisine with “Thai Juan On”. Each menu item is detailed with Jib’s own brand of puns and pop culture humor with a very unique and delectable fusion. Chef Jib creates magic in the kitchen by blending traditional Mexican favorites with a taste of Thai with dishes such as the Golden Thaiangle (Sam Llum), which are crispy fried flour Thaitillas stuffed with minced fish, shrimp, avocado, cilantro and green onion and served with nutty sweet & sour cucumber sauce. Of course, the menu description adds “Ay-yai-yai” to let you know just how spicy this dish is. THAI SPECIALTYWhere is it: 2500 East Imperial Highway #128 Brea, CA 92821 If you’re looking for traditional Thai food experience when you’re in Orange County, look no further than Thai Specialty.
