About 4 year(s) ago by Hotel This week kicked off the Ayres Hotel's Appreciation Days. During the month of September, each Ayres Hotel General Manager will choose a fun spirited theme for a luncheon to honor their hardworking staff. Some previous themes have been Western, Hawaiian Luau, and even a Haunted House theme! Without these individuals, daily function of our hotels would be quite impossible. That is why Ayres Hotels takes a week to truly let their Breakfast, Kitchen, Housekeeping, and Maintenance teams know how appreciated they are. Throughout the week a special treat is planned for team members daily, ranging from doughnuts, root beer floats, to nachos. The Ayres family is heavily involved in this special event. For every hotel’s Appreciation Day, the principal of the hotel attends. Pictured below is Don Jr. at Yorba Linda’s Space themed Hotel Appreciation Day luncheon! What a great sport, showing that Ayres truly cares. Last year, at Ayres Suites Ontario at the Mills Mall, the theme for their Hotel Staff Appreciation Day was Harry Potter. Pictured below is Donald Ayres III dressed up with one of the team members, how fun! Not only does the team get to enjoy a catered lunch, but they also get to play games. The “Master of the Ceremony,” AKA the General Manager of the hotel, chooses up to two games for their staff to play. One fun game in particular, “A Bit Dicey,” has staff members placing a single Popsicle stick in his/her mouth and stacking six dice on top of each other in a 60 second time limit to win. Another fun game that the General Managers have set up is a balloon stomping game in which participating employees discover cash within the balloons they stomp! Other entertaining games that have been included on these special days are pillowcase sack races, dance contests, hula hoop contests, egg on spoon races, among many more creative ideas. Winners of these games receive cash prizes and gift certificates. Besides food, fun, and games, an awards ceremony also takes place. Special recognition is given to each team member through awards, certificates and or thank you cards. Awards have been known to include “The Queen of Clean,” “Superstar Award for Commitment to Guests,” “Best Team Player,” and “Service with a Smile.” It is truly a special day and let’s be honest, these team members definitely deserve it!
