About 5 year(s) ago by Hotel Now through October 31st the Discovery Science Center located in Santa Ana, only two miles away from the Ayres Inn Orange, is getting in the Halloween spirit with their new Spooky Science exhibit. Each weekend in October has a special theme which will explore various spooky subjects. Creepy crawlers, pumpkins, and friendly spooks will be showcased during the Spooky Science event. This coming weekend of October 12th and 13th, the Unbelievable Magic theme will enchant youngsters with an astounding magic show. A live magician will perform a fun magic act, and will even teach the science behind some classic tricks. After the show children will get a chance to trick-or-treat and take home a special goodie bag! The theme for the weekend of October 19th and 20th will be Creepy Crawlers; this event is not for the squeamish! Spiders of all sizes and colors will be the highlight of this special weekend through shows and hands on activities. Presentations with Dr. Sue’s Insect Zoo and an NHM Entomologist will engage children in learning all about creepy crawlers, including their habitats and food sources. The finale weekend of October 26th and 27th showcases the famous Halloween symbol, Jack-O-Lanterns! This special weekend festival is filled with pumpkins and Jack-O-Lanterns of all shapes, sizes, and colors. Adolescents will also have the opportunity to investigate the seeds inside them. A special display of expertly carved Jack-O-Lanterns and a giant pumpkin from Tanaka Farms will be the main attractions of this theme. Even the youngest of ghouls will be able to partake in the festivities and create their own jack-o-lanterns out of felt, encouraging shape identification. Each weekend the Discovery Science Center Spooky Science exhibit will host additional Halloween spirited activities. Children will have the chance to make their own slime and take it home, join a costume parade extravaganza, see a SPOOKtacular light show, enjoy new Spooky Science stage shows, and of course trick-or-treat. Children can also learn about the phases of the moon and explore a spooky 3D maze. All Spooky Science activities are included in general admission. So get in the holiday spirit (and your costume!) and get ready to be spooked!
