Candlelight Evenings at the Nixon Library

About 2 week(s) ago by Ayres Hotels

The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum in Yorba Linda is getting in the White House Christmas spirit. To celebrate traditions of the past and present, they are opening their doors after hours for three special Candlelight Evenings this holiday season…

Don't miss the toy trains, live music, holiday treats and photos with Santa on December 5, 12 and 19. During these three special nights, the museum will re-open after hours from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tickets are still on sale for these evening events and parking is free. Adult admission is $29, and only $16 for those 5-11, children under 5 get in free. If you're a member at the museum, adult admission is $20, and $10 for children.

Guests will have the opportunity to explore the All-Aboard America! display featuring three spectacular layouts of model trains whistling over bridges, whizzing through snow-capped mountains, and stopping in miniature towns and cities. This showcase was carefully handcrafted by the Train Collectors Association and reflects President Nixon's love of trains that began with his childhood in Yorba Linda.

While you're there, you can also take photos with Santa in President Nixon's Oval Office and check out the beautiful Pat Nixon White House Gingerbread House, which was custom-baked to look like President Nixon's birthplace in Yorba Linda.

Don't forget to stop by and write a letter and sign holiday cards for military members serving overseas. Then…create a festive Christmas ornament to hang on your Christmas tree and decorate a cookie or two while enjoying some complimentary hot chocolate.

The museum will feature live entertainment filled with Christmas classics in the magnificent White House East Room. On December 5 you can enjoy the Navy Band Southwest, on December 12 the Golden State British Brass Band will be in town, and on December 19 the Long Beach City College Evening Wind Symphony will make an appearance.

These special Candlelight Evenings celebrate First Lady Pat Nixon's love of Christmas and the holiday traditions she inspired at the White House. This year, discover the history of America's 37th President in the Nixon Library's award-winning presidential museum galleries while celebrating the spirit of Christmas.
