Experience Shakespeare’s plays like never before. All summer long, Griffith Park will host free performances of modernized renditions of the English writer’s most famous works. From Romeo and Juliet being depicted as an indie-tragedy to Much Ado About Nothing set during World War II, you will enjoy these captivating twists to these classic plays. Make sure you attend as many performances as possible and discover all the creative talent behind the Independent Shakespeare Company.
From August 2nd through September 3rd (Wednesdays through Sundays), invite your family and friends to join you for an engrossing performance of The Two Gentlemen of Verona. This play features two idealistic best friends who set out on a road trip who are followed by two young women, both determined to write their own destiny. This cohort will come face to face with betrayal, struggle to overcome broken hearts, and battle with outlaws before their journey concludes. The Independent Shakespeare Company’s rendition of Shakespeare’s coming of age comedy will also feature live rockabilly music, swing dancing, and a dog named crab! All performances will begin at 7pm -- make sure you are in attendance!
The performances will be held at The Old Zoo in Griffith Park and admission to all plays is free.
