Southern California's Premier Art and Wine Festival in La Jolla

About 3 week(s) ago by Ayres Hotels

The highly anticipated 2017 La Jolla Art & Wine Festival will be returning for the eighth time to Girard Avenue. This two-day juried art show and fundraiser is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious art and wine festivals in Southern California. Since the festival is both free and open to the public, you will not want to miss this exciting event.

The festival will feature the works of over 150 established artists from San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange County, Baja and more. In addition to reveling in the wonderful display of art at La Jolla, attendees can also partake in a silent auction, live entertainment, a gourmet market, the family art center, or the wine and beer garden. Best of all, one hundred percent of the profits raised at the festival will benefit underfunded programs such as art, music, science, physical education, technology, and on-site medical care at public elementary and middle schools in La Jolla.

Guests that are over twenty one years of age can savor both regional and international wines as well as local San Diego craft beers. You can purchase individual tasting tickets for the wine and beer garden at $4, or if you are with a group, you can purchase six tickets for $20. This year’s wine garden vendors include:

  • La Serenissima
  • LJ Crafted Wines
  • Dreaming Tree Wines
  • Fetzer
  • Schlossadler
  • Bird Rock Fine Wine
  • Parallelo
  • Aborigen

As for breweries, the 2017 vendors are:

To accompany your beverage of choice, make sure to try some of the delicious food provided by the 2017 food vendors:

In addition to the fully stocked beer and wine garden and many delicious food options, there will be Geppetto’s Family Art Center, where children and their families can use inspiration from the professional art to make their own special creations. There will also be a series of performances on the Beer and Wine Garden Stage throughout the weekend:

  • Earl Vaults Smooth Jazz: Saturday, 12:00pm-12:45pm
  • Jazz Pigs: Saturday, 1:00pm-1:45pm

  • Full Strength Funk Band: Sunday, 4:00pm-6:00pm

At this year’s silent auction, guests can expect to bid on a number of wonderful trips, spa resorts, dining at La Jolla’s finest restaurants, jewelry, clothes, gift certificates, and much more! There will be an auction help on October 7th and a second one on the 8th. Last year’s auction raised over $26,000 to support the underfunded programs in La Jolla’s elementary in middle schools, so this year the hope is to surpass that amount!

For those seeking accommodation near the festival, Ayres Lodge Alpine is within close proximity. The combination of western-style ambiance and beautiful Southern California scenery that this hotel boasts makes it the perfect retreat for your visit.
