About 3 year(s) ago by Hotel Summer is the perfect time to gather friends and family together to head out on a road trip. With beautiful weather, amazing scenery, and endless amounts of destinations, you are bound to have the time of your life. Whether you’re heading to the beach or driving across country, you always must make sure to be prepared and arrive at your destination safely. Here are some tips for before, during, and after your road trip to make sure you have a fun and safe trip! PRE-TRIP PREPARATION: Making sure everything is set and ready before leaving on your trip is the most important part of a road trip. You don’t want to find yourself in a situation that you can’t get out of. You want to make sure to do an extensive overview of your car, this should include the following; check tire pressure, make sure wiper blades are in working order, and verify that the car has all the proper fluid levels (bakes, transmission, oil). Check to make sure you have a spare tire and changing tools in case of a flat. Also check all light indicators are workings; headlights, brakes, and interior lights. Map your route out before leaving. It is always fun to return on a different route than going there. That way you will see as much scenery as possible during the road trip. You can’t avoid traffic sometimes, but construction traffic you can. Consult AAA maps, state departments of transportation sites or their phone. This can save mass amounts of travel time. DURING THE ROAD TRIP: If you are doing a multiple day road trip, make sure to plan out how many miles you will be traveling a day, and try to pick fun places to stay the night! Sometimes, the road trip can be the best part, enjoy all the country has to offer by stopping and taking in the scenery. If you are on a tight time schedule, make sure to have a co-pilot there along-side to switch off driving. A road trip shouldn't be spent sitting in silence reading a book, it is a great time to enjoy each other’s company and become best friends! Be prepared to have fun during the trip! There are so many games that can be played in the car that do not require any boards, pieces, or supplies. Here are just a couple; I spy, telephone, slug-bug, and who am I? are classic games that only require a little imagination! DOCUMENT YOUR JOURNEY! Whether it is through social media channels, online blogs, or the original journal, make sure to document the whole trip start to finish. Collect ticket stubs, maps, postcards, and other memorabilia from your trip so one day you can look back and remember all the great times you had. Making a scrapbook is a great tangible way to recall your epic adventures for years to come! Road trips can turn into the greatest adventure of one’s life. They can also take an unexpected turn for the worse. Share any road trip stories you have below.
